Merry Christmas

Watched this in the theater. A thriller and some nice chemistry. Worth one watch, but definitely not as good as made out in some rare reviews or IMDB rating IMO. 6.5 to 7 out of 10.

  • Vijay Sethupathi is good to very good. (what's with him and and his character nighttime walks with ladies !? See 96 movie for reference)
  • Katrina Kaif is decent - good in some scenes, but still not that good in some others.
  • Their chemistry works well in the film.
  • Story is decent - a bit up and down. It is good at couple of places, but a little inconsistent/frustrating at others or leaves gaps. As far as pace is concerned, a little slow in first half, but picks as it nears intermission.
  • The support cast of Sanjay Kapoor, Tinnu Anand, Vinay Pathak etc. have done a good job.

  Using rope to square a circle What is squaring a circle? It is drawing a square equal to the area of a given circle. Area of a circle = Pi*r^2 where r is the radius of the circle Area of square = s^2 where s is the side of the square Therefore Pi*r^2=s^2 implies s= r*sqrt(Pi) But Pi is a transcadental number. Therefore its square root cannot be computed exactly This squaring of a circle using a compass and straight edge is considered impossible. Hence squaring a circle is used by many as a metaphor for doing the impossible. However it can be easily done via a rope as explained the Sulbasutras. The Sulbasutras are appendices to the Vedas which give rules for constructing altars. (Sanskrit śulba: "string, cord, rope") are sutra texts belonging to the Śrauta ritual. Śrauta is a Sanskrit word that means "belonging to śruti", that is, anything based on the Vedas of Hinduism. Kishkindha Kandam review

Just finished watching Kishikandha Kanda movie. Merely ok story. Some of it doesn't make sense at all/not explained. Acting is also not particularly great. Don't understand how it got such that highly positive reviews. Comparisons to Drishyam? You cannot be serious!! First half is slow and too much buildup. Asif Ali is ordinary except for a few scenes. For majority of it, his emotions and delivery dialogue is flat. Aparna (Asif wife role) and Vijayaraghavan (Asif father role or grandfather for kid) are clearly better, Aparna even more so. Yes, even if Vijayaraghavan character annoyed me a quite a bit. Overall: 6.25/10 for me. Spoilers below: 1. How on earth does a kid know how to put in the bullets, remove the safety and actually fire properly? 2. The grandfather hits the kid, but doesn't remove the bullets and hide it elsewhere after kid has fired and shot the monkey? WTF. 3.
